2024年1月14日(日) Hokkaido Seafood Buffet 様にて、恒例の新年会を開催しました。今年は100名を超える皆様にお集まりいただき、ビュッフェスタイルのお食事を楽しみながら、わいわいと大いに盛り上がりました。
プログラムは、日本協会会長の挨拶・ご協賛企業のご紹介・ピッツバーグ日系団体の方々からのご挨拶（ピッツバーグさくらプロジェクト、日本教室）・活動中の同好会のご紹介（アロマを楽しむ会、鉄道ジオラマ同好会）など。一芸披露コーナーでは7歳のはるまくんが特技のルービックキューブを披露！その早業に拍手喝采でした。
年の始めの運試しとして、ラッフルと福引も実施しました。今回も有難いことに沢山の団体・個人の皆様から魅力的な景品を数多くご協賛いただきました。レストラン等のギフトカードやペンギンスのチケット、航空割引券、素晴らしいワインや日本酒、日本の写真や食品、そしてCD等々。お子様にはポケモングッズが大人気！それぞれ当選された方にとても喜んでいただきました。
また、今年は元旦に発生した能登半島地震への義援金箱も設置させていただきました。参加者の皆様から$480の義援金が集まり、ニューヨーク総領事館を通じて全額を被災地にお送りしたことをここにご報告いたします。
最後には全員で『花は咲く』を合唱しました。2011年の東日本大震災の復興支援のために作られたチャリティーソングで、能登半島地震をはじめとする被災地に想いを想いを馳せながら歌いました。
実施後のアンケートでは「とても楽しく和気あいあいな会でよかった」「久しぶりの方とあえて嬉しかった」「素晴らしいサービス、多様で美味しい食べ物だった！」「会場へのアクセスが良かった」「景品も充実していた」「家族で参加できるいい会だった」「ビュッフェだったので子どもも料理を楽しめた」「準備が行き届いていた」「手作りの運営の温かさを感じた」「来年も楽しみにしています！」と有難いご意見を頂戴しました。一方で「もう少し他の参加者と交流できる仕組みがほしい（席を移動した歓談など）」「空き時間にゲームなどエンタメを取り入れてはどうか」「（日本語だけでなく）英語のアナウンスを取り入れてはどうか」「会場が遠いのでランチだと助かる」「司会の声が聞こえづらかった」といったご意見もあり、ぜひ今後の企画に反映させたいと思います。

The annual New Year’s party was held at Hokkaido Seafood Buffet on Sunday, January 14, 2024. This year, over 100 people gathered and enjoyed a buffet-style meal and a lively atmosphere.
The program included greetings from the president of JAGP, introductions of sponsors, greetings from Japanese organizations in Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh Sakura Project, Japanese Nationality Room), and introductions of clubs that are currently active (Aroma, Railroad Diorama). In the “Short Performance” corner, 7-year-old Haruma Kamura showed off his special skill, Rubik’s Cube! His quick skills were applauded by the audience.
We also held a raffle and a lucky draw. We were grateful for the many attractive prizes donated by many organizations and individuals. We received gift cards to restaurants etc, discount airline tickets, tickets to the Penguins game, great wine and sake, Japanese photos, food, CDs, and more! Pokemon goods were very popular with the children. Everyone who won a prize was very happy.
This year, we also set up a donation box for the Noto Peninsula Earthquake that occurred on New Year’s Day. We are pleased to report that $480 was collected from the participants and all the money was sent to the affected areas through the consulate.
At the end of the event, everyone sang “Hana ha Saku” together, a charity song written to support the recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, while thinking about the Noto Peninsula earthquake and other disaster areas.
In the questionnaire after the event, the following comments were made: “It was a very enjoyable and friendly party,” “I am glad that Corona is over and I have more opportunities to see you all,” “Great service, diverse and delicious food,” “Good access to the venue,” “Great prizes,” “Good party for the whole family,”” The buffet allowed children to enjoy the food,” “It was well prepared,” “I felt the warmth of the handmade management,” and “I look forward to next year’s event!
On the other hand, there were also comments such as “I would like to have more opportunities to interact with other participants,” “How about adding entertainment such as games during free time,” “How about announcements in English (in addition to Japanese),” “Lunch would be helpful because the venue is far,” “It was difficult to hear the MC’s voice,”. We would like to reflect these comments in our future plans.
