2023年1月15日(日)、COVID-19流行以降、実に3年ぶりにインパーソンの新年会を開催しました。会場は、ピッツバーグの日本人に長く親しまれ、今年40周年を迎えられたKiku Japanese Restaurant 様です。90名近くの皆様にお集まりいただき、美味しいお食事をいただきながら話に花を咲かせ、大いに盛り上がりました。
日本協会会長の挨拶に始まり、ご協賛企業のご紹介、ピッツバーグ日系団体の方々からのご挨拶（桜プロジェクト、日本語補習授業校、日本教室）のほか、歌や尺八のパフォーマンスもありました。
一番の盛り上がりを見せたのは、恒例のラッフルと福引です。今年も多くのご協賛をいただき、ペンギンズチケット、アメリカ国内航空券、ピッツバーグのレストランやお店のギフトカードなど、数多くの豪華景品をご準備することができました。くじをひいて当選番号が読み上げられるたびに、歓声や落胆の声が上がりました。
久しぶりの開催でしたが、参加者の皆さんからは「とても楽しかった」「これまで参加した新年会のなかでも最高だった」「知らない方ともお話ができて良かった」「お食事がとても美味しかった」「お正月らしいプログラムがあって良かった」「また来年も参加したい！」といったお声を頂戴いたしました。一方で「もう少し他の参加者と交流できる仕組みがほしい」「司会の声が聞こえづらかった」などのご意見もあり、ぜひ来年度の企画に反映させたいと思います。
参加してくださった皆様、ありがとうございました。そして、ご協賛いただいた企業や団体の皆様、素晴らしいお料理とサービスをご提供いただいた Kiku Japanese Restaurantの皆様に心より感謝申し上げます。

On Sunday, January 15, 2023, we held our first impersonal New Year’s party in three years since the COVID-19 epidemic. The venue was Kiku Japanese Restaurant, a longtime favorite of Japanese people in Pittsburgh, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year. Nearly 90 people gathered for a delicious meal and lively conversation.
The event started with a speech by the President of our Association, followed by introductions of sponsors, greetings from Pittsburgh Japanese organizations (Sakura Project, Pittsburgh Japanese School, Japanese Nationality Room), and performances of songs and shakuhachi (bamboo flute).
The most exciting part was the raffle and lucky draw. Thanks to the generous sponsors, we were able to offer many great prizes this year, including Penguins tickets, U.S. domestic airline tickets, gift cards to Pittsburgh restaurants and stores, and much more. Every time the winning numbers were read out after the raffle, there were cheers and disappointed shouts.
After the party, we received comments from participants such as “It was a lot of fun,” “It was the best New Year’s party I have ever attended,” “It was nice to talk with people I don’t know,” “The food was very delicious,” “It was nice to have a New Year’s program,” and “I want to attend again next year!”. On the other hand, we received some comments such as “I would like to have more opportunities to interact with other participants,” and “It was difficult to hear the MC’s voice,” which we will reflect in next year’s plan.
